Madison Cawthorn recently had photos in the media showing him wearing womenโs lingerie. I have no issue with him choosing to wear any sort of lingerie publicly or privately. But his job as a Congressperson will not be impacted by these photos. When I announced my run for Congress and publicly shared that I used to strip in college, I was pushed out of a job. This happens to so many former and current sex workers all over country. I donโt have an issue with Cawthorn wearing womenโs lingerie. I have an issue with the hypocrisy. I have an issue with the double standard. I have an issue that the rest of us are expected to live with shame and stigma when we express our identity, sexuality, or simply how we make an honest living. These photos are from a burlesque fundraiser for our campaign a few nights ago. The duct tape reads โELECT HERโ.
